Honor Your Mentor By Paying It Forward

As we approach the holidays, I am reminded just how much MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership has to be thankful for. For the past 25 years, we have had the distinct pleasure of working alongside amazing individuals, organizations and companies who have helped support and shape the mentoring movement in our country – many of whom we honored at our recent 25th Anniversary Celebration in New York City.

We couldn’t be more appreciative to those in our network who have helped us increase the number of young people connecting with mentors, from 300,000 a quarter-century ago to more than 4.5 million today. But, there is still work to be done. Right now, there are more than 9 million young people growing up without a mentor of any kind.

So, this holiday season, as you recount all that you have to be thankful for, I ask you to take a moment and think about your mentor(s).

  • Who were the people in your life who were there for you in moments big and small?
  • Who was your biggest cheerleader, your trusted advisor, your sounding board?
  • Have you told them lately (or ever) how much they mean to you?

Now is your chance. Please consider sharing your appreciation with them by making a special gift in their honor this Giving Tuesday. Not only will you acknowledge their impact on your life but your gift will help pay it forward by supporting our efforts to make sure every young person has their very own cheerleader, trusted advisor and sounding board.

Look for our e-mail December 1, or use the button above and commit to paying it forward by donating to MENTOR in honor of a person who has made a difference in your life.

Sincerely,

David Shapiro
