For more than 10 years, she has conducted research on the mentoring of children and adolescents, including an extensive analysis of the Big Brothers Big Sisters national impact study. In addition, she has explored the influence natural and assigned mentors have on adolescent mothers.
Her work on mentoring has been supported by a William T. Grant Faculty Scholar Award, a FIRST Award from NICHD, and major grants from the Spencer Foundation and the William T. Grant Foundation.
Rhodes has published more than 20 articles and chapters on the topic of youth mentoring. Her new book, Stand by Me: The Risks and Rewards of Youth Mentoring, published by Harvard University Press, is available at Amazon.com.
