Update October 31, 2011
Dear Friends,
I wanted to touch base and give you an update about the exciting progress on the Illinois State Mentoring Partnership.
Since the September 27th luncheon hosted by lead-sponsor JPMorgan Chase, interest in supporting the partnership is at an all-time high. As you know, at the luncheon, multinational management consulting and technology services company Accenture pledged their support to our efforts. In the coming weeks, we expect to announce new partners that are similarly dedicated to bringing a state mentoring partnership here to Illinois.
In fact, we’ve already received positive public feedback from Chicago 00121Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Chief Service Officer, Jenné Myers and Cook County Works Director Karin Norington-Reaves, each of whom included write-ups in their periodic newsletters.
To help get the Illinois partnership off the ground, MENTOR is in process of assembling two working groups that will help guide this process. In the coming weeks, MENTOR will begin building a Steering Committee which will be comprised of Illinois-based civic leaders, donors, and partners who will help the partnership flourish by raising funds and awareness.
Additionally, MENTOR is convening a Providers Council, comprised of local direct-service providers and other mentoring professionals. Providers Council members will advise and offer suggestions to ensure the Partnership meets the needs of the local community.
Lastly, attached is a post-event flyer from the September 27th luncheon. Please take a look!
We appreciate your support for the Illinois State Mentoring Partnership and look forward to working closely with you as we make this partnership a reality.
Sincerely,
Ellen Christman
