February 2015

The 2015 National Mentoring Month campaign received impressive national attention and engagement with a presidential proclamation in January, numerous press mentions, social media conversations, email mentions and more. Each year, we are reminded that this campaign is key to expanding mentoring awareness and promoting the mentoring effect in our shared communities.

2015 Highlights:

  • Social media reach: 5.3 million impressions January 1-January 31 on MENTOR’s Twitter and Facebook combined pages.
  • Print and online media: Approximately 650 articles reaching an estimated 585 million readers.
  • Proclamations: A presidential proclamation from President Obama was issued on January 1, 2015. (If your local proclamation isn’t listed here, please let us know.)
  • Television PSAs: MENTOR employed a new campaign strategy – a digital media buy through which the PSA videos were seen on 160 websites and mobile sites/apps such as AccessHollywood.com, Cosmopolitan.com, FoxNews.com, HuffingtonPost.com, Oprah.com, Weather.com and Yahoo.com. This strategy resulted in 2.5 million audience impressions with nearly 1.6 million viewers who watched the digital PSA’s. In addition, through a pro-bono TV distribution, television stations in nearly 20 media markets have aired the spots.
