Memphis Grizzlies Foundation and TEAM UP Youth Mentoring Partnership Celebrate National Mentoring Month
In celebration of National Mentoring Month, MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership’s local affiliate the TEAMUP Youth Mentoring Partnership and the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation hosted Mentor Night at the FedEx Forum, providing nearly 400 mentors and mentees with tickets to the event.
Throughout the night, attendees were encouraged to participate in several activities, including a “Mentor Zone,” where participants could take photos with posters that supported MENTOR’s In Real Life campaign in Memphis and Shelby counties.
A collaborative effort between MENTOR and the NBA, the In Real Life campaign was launched in response to President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative and the call-to-action to deliver on the promise of opportunity for all of America’s young people.
Attendees also participated in a five-part mentoring skit with the Memphis Grizzlies mascot, Grizz, where a mentee was shown the ropes about becoming a mascot.
This was just one of several events the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation and TEAM UP will host throughout National Mentoring Month, supporting their commitment to connecting more of our community’s young people with caring adult mentors.
