“We stand in solidarity with many partners including the National Child Abuse Coalition, Child Welfare League of America, and First Focus in re-asserting that the well-being of all young people must be a national priority. Extensive research demonstrates that separating children from families causes trauma that will negatively impact their development and leave lasting trauma and harm throughout their lives. MENTOR stands for keeping the physical and mental health of young people at the center of all policies and practices and urges our leaders to ensure that all young people are safe, healthy, protected from trauma and violence, and supported in all stages of their development.”
