LakersIn celebration of National Mentoring Month, the Mixed Roots Foundation, the California Mentoring Partnership and other local mentoring organizations supported Mentor Night and a VIP pregame reception hosted by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Over 170 people, including mentors and mentees, participated in the event, which honored longtime mentor Dr. Joseph L. White and others who have been actively involved in the youth mentoring movement.

Attendees appeared on the Staples Center videoboard and were given Kobe Bryant jerseys in recognition of their work in support of the movement.

The event supported MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership’s (MENTOR) In Real Life campaign, a collaborative effort launched by MENTOR and the NBA in response to President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative and the call-to-action to deliver on the promise of opportunity for all of America’s young people.
