Expanding the Movement

Motivating civic leaders, employers, and individual stakeholders to prioritize and invest in ensuring all young people have access to mentoring relationships.

MENTOR co-led advocacy efforts to see federal funding for youth mentoring to $104 million in FY24 for the Youth Mentoring Grant (the ONLY mentoring-specific line item in the federal budget).

Prospective mentors took action by completing 19,947 searches for mentoring opportunities and connecting with local mentoring programs nationwide through the Mentoring Connector.

Advancing Local Field Leadership

Supporting the effectiveness of new and existing MENTOR Affiliates to scale MENTOR’s geographic footprint and deepen the impact of the mentoring field.

25 local MENTOR Affiliates provided services in 23 states, the District of Columbia, and across the country.

13 Affiliate organizations are led by BIPOC leaders.

Hosted MENTOR Con 2024 in partnership with MENTOR Atlanta for 84 Affiliate leaders and staff from across the network gathering for two days of community building and shared learning and engagement to advance the mentoring movement to support more young people. 

Prioritizing Quality

Identifying, promoting, and driving the implementation of evidence-based practices combined with community wisdom to increase the quality of mentoring relationships for young people.

Influencing Systems

Creating and guiding innovative solutions that integrate relationship-centered practices and policies while driving resources for the adoption of mentoring structures and mindsets within youth-serving systems.

Hosted a Business Learning Community Cohort (BCLC) for Human Resources and Corporate & Social Responsibility professionals to engage in a hybrid learning environment of asynchronous e-modules, trainings, and discussion-based learning. The BCLC aimed to cultivate and expand healthy mentoring practices for youth within the workplace.

Worked in partnership with 12 Affiliates to serve 286,000 students tin nine districts across the U.S. through the  Relationship-Centered Schools initiative.

816 individuals trained through Connect|Focus|Grow.

Looking Ahead

In 2021, MENTOR launched a refreshed strategic plan with a goal that over the next 3 years, MENTOR will advance the movement such that 1 million more young people aged 8-24 will have access to improved, quality, mentoring relationships that support their thriving. In 2024 we exceeded our goal and reached 2,248,282 young people!
