Back to School

Access to academic opportunities is a key part of positive youth development, but so is the social and emotional learning that takes place in and out of classrooms. During back to school season and beyond, join the mentoring movement in making sure that all young people feel known and supported by the adults in their lives!

Relationship-Centered Schools

A central piece in our efforts to positively impact the education system is our work with relationship-centered schools. By promoting intentional student-adult relationships and raising awareness around the importance of providing young people equitable access to quality supports, we are empowering youth both inside and outside of the classroom. Here are resources on the benefits and best practices surrounding relationship-centered schools.

Ready Set

Be a part of America’s Student Support Network! As a founding partner of this national tutor, mentor, and service recruitment campaign, MENTOR works with partner organizations to engage adult volunteers and ensure that all students have the support needed to thrive and strive.

National Partnership for Student Success (NPSS)

Let’s All Come Together To Help Students Thrive! The students of our country have enormous potential to learn and thrive in school and beyond. However, additional caring adults in and out of schools are needed to help educators and families address critical educational and mental health challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a supporting champion of this initiative, MENTOR provides leadership and expertise to a diverse coalition of nonprofits, school districts, state and local education agencies, federal agencies, philanthropy, and national and community organizations working to ensure that students have access to critical relationships, resources, and opportunities.

Attendance Awareness Month

Student achievement is about so much more than academics. Young people have a lot going on in their lives, and if we want them to succeed academically, it is critical that we offer holistic support. September is Attendance Awareness Month, a time to check in with our young people and make sure they know that, both in and out of the classroom, there are people in their corner.

National Principals’ Month

As leaders in their community, principals have the chance to positively impact school culture by being intentional about the way they interact with students. We are so grateful to all of the principals and administrators who recognize the importance of mentorship and quality student-adult connections.
